Congregation Beth Shalom presents
Clergy Boys
After having toured Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Florida, Los Angeles, and recently Pittsburgh, the ‘Clergy Boys are Back’ in Chicago and ready to take the stage at the Northshore Center for the Performing Arts on August 25th, at 4:00PM.
This talented quartet of performers have been entertaining audiences for decades as individual entertainers, and over the past eight years have aligned to create The Clergy Boys multi-media show. A mix of talents which includes the ‘Boys’ playing guitar, piano and fiddle always keeping the audience mesmerized, while clapping and singing along as the ‘Boys” joyfully twist and turn some of your favorite music into a biblical journey.
Cantors Randy Herman, David Propis, Mike Stein and Steven Stoehr have served some of the most prestigious synagogues in the country. Each of them began their Cantorial lives following varied paths to the pulpit, as well as in their secular creativity. Some began on stage and piano bars, some on Broadway and serving in the Navy and others ascended the pulpit as an homage to the history of their family members who were forever scarred by the Holocaust.
The Clergy Boys’ concert is overflowing with remarkable voices, familiar tunes, touching stories and comedic repartee. The narrative which runs throughout show is based on highlights of the Bible but we promise ‘no one will go home converted’.
‘You don’t have to be Jewish to enjoy this show’, and it’s a good time at the theater for all ages. If you don’t find yourself being brought to your feet at least twice during the show, then you walked into the wrong theater.
The Chicago show will be enhanced with the presence of narrators Cantors Laurie Akers and Andrea Rae Markowicz who shall guide everyone through this unforgettable night.
“We are extremely excited to come back to Chicago to share music with everyone.
‘Oh What a Night’ it shall be!”
Cantor Steven Stoehr
